Job Overview: The internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme at FAO is designed to attract talented young individuals who are eager to contribute their innovative ideas and academic knowledge to the organization's mission. Interns will have the opportunity to supplement their academic experience with practical work assignments in fields related to FAO's work. The internship aims to provide a learning experience that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework, particularly in transforming agri-food systems to be more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable. Interns will report to assigned supervisors and will be involved in various tasks that align with their profiles and the organization's needs.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will perform a variety of functions as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office. These may include conducting research, assisting in project implementation, supporting data analysis, contributing to reports and presentations, and participating in meetings and discussions. Interns are expected to engage actively in their assigned tasks and collaborate with team members to achieve organizational goals. They will also have the opportunity to learn about FAO's operations and contribute to initiatives that support food security and sustainable agriculture.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a recognized educational institution. FAO only considers qualifications from institutions accredited by the World Higher Education Database (WHED). Candidates should specialize in a field relevant to FAO's mission and work. A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is required, and knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset. Candidates must also be nationals of FAO member countries and should be aged between 21 and 30 years.
Educational Background: Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a recognized undergraduate or graduate degree program. The educational background should be relevant to the mission and work of FAO, and candidates must provide evidence of their attendance at a recognized university or copies of their academic qualifications when applying.
Experience: While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong motivation to learn and contribute to FAO's objectives. The internship is aimed at young individuals who are looking to gain practical experience in their field of study and contribute to the organization's mission.
Languages: A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is mandatory. Knowledge of a second FAO language will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
Additional Notes: FAO does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
