The volunteer will be tasked with transforming existing documents into a clear, concise, and context-appropriate draft that reflects the realities of the community rather than merely aspirational goals. This role is crucial for ensuring that the strategic plan is usable for internal review and validation, and it will involve drafting a revised structure and narrative that aligns with ERONet's mission and objectives. The volunteer will focus on improving the flow and usability of the strategic plan, ensuring that it effectively communicates ERONet's priorities and aligns with national and global frameworks.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteer include:
Restructuring the Strategic Plan to enhance its usability, which involves drafting a Foreword attributed to the Board Chair, an Acknowledgement section from the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director, and a concise Executive Summary that articulates ERONet's community-driven approach and priority thematic areas.
Refining strategic goals, outcomes, and indicators by creating a clear goals-outcomes-indicators matrix that ensures logical coherence and clarity for internal planning and partner communication.
Drafting simplified sections for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning, including a risk matrix with practical mitigation measures and a consolidated resource mobilization section.
Reviewing and refining ERONet's Organizational Profile to ensure consistency with the revised Strategic Plan, aligning tone, scale, and messaging with ERONet's capacity and long-term positioning. The volunteer will prepare draft documents for ERONet's review and validation, with final approval resting with ERONet leadership and the Board.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong writing and organizational skills, with experience in strategic planning or organizational development. Familiarity with community-based organizations and the specific challenges faced by vulnerable populations in post-conflict settings is highly desirable. The candidate should also demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a keen understanding of how to translate complex information into accessible formats. Proficiency in drafting strategic documents and familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks will be beneficial.
Educational Background: A background in social sciences, development studies, public policy, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with experience in strategic planning, organizational development, or community engagement will be particularly well-suited for this role. A strong academic record and relevant coursework or training in strategic planning or organizational management will be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience working with non-profit organizations, particularly in roles related to strategic planning, program development, or organizational capacity building. Experience in community-based settings, especially in post-conflict or rural areas, will be a significant asset. The ability to demonstrate a track record of successfully drafting strategic documents or similar materials is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Northern Uganda would be considered an advantage, as it may facilitate better understanding and engagement with the community context.
