Job Overview: The position focuses on maximizing the private sector's role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for children. The consultant will develop strategic partnerships with various sectors, including mining, telecommunications, and financial services, to leverage resources and influence business practices positively. The role involves creating a comprehensive private sector strategy and action plan for 2026-2028, aimed at mobilizing resources and enhancing UNICEF's visibility and influence among private partners. The consultant will also be responsible for environmental scanning, developing company profiles, and organizing engagement activities to foster collaboration with key stakeholders in the private sector.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Update and maintain a database of key companies and contacts in the private sector for engagement and resource mobilization.
Analyze Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of companies to understand their impact on children's outcomes.
Develop company profiles and briefing notes for senior management to facilitate private sector engagements.
Identify engagement opportunities and key entry points for collaboration with the private sector and its influencers.
Create and implement a private sector partnership engagement plan for resource mobilization and CSR initiatives.
Develop communication products and business cases to enhance UNICEF's visibility with private partners.
Organize thematic discussions or roundtables with top companies to foster engagement and resource mobilization.
Develop Terms of Reference for a CEO council and support its establishment for advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.
Submit reports on the outcomes of engagements and activities conducted during the consultancy period.
At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in Corporate Social Responsibility strategies, particularly with mining companies and private sector partnerships.
Proven experience in institutional fundraising, content marketing for social organizations, and resource mobilization activities.
Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with the private sector and influence business practices.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's) in relevant fields such as international development, public affairs, political science, or social sciences. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of private sector engagement and the socio-economic factors affecting children's rights.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in developing and implementing Corporate Social Responsibility strategies and engaging with the private sector. Experience in resource mobilization and working with international organizations is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful partnerships and the ability to navigate complex environments.
Languages: Fluency in French and English is mandatory, with knowledge of another UN language considered an asset. This linguistic proficiency is crucial for effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders in the private sector and within UNICEF.
