Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed for an assistant in logistics and finance at the Southern base, which includes locations such as Marseille, Toulouse, and Montpellier. The intern will work under the authority of the Logistics and Finance Manager for the Southern zone and will collaborate with program teams focused on water, sanitation, hygiene, and community mobilization. The internship aims to provide insight into the functioning of a humanitarian NGO, the interactions between headquarters, coordination, and field operations, as well as the operational realities in metropolitan France. This position will allow the intern to discover humanitarian professions and develop skills in logistics and financial management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a variety of responsibilities, including supporting purchases and tracking orders in compliance with donor procedures, organizing transportation and managing stock, participating in field distributions, seeking donations, archiving and centralizing logistical and financial documents, and monitoring accounting and budgeting. Specific duties include participating in market studies, researching suppliers and donations, preparing and following up on purchase files, organizing transport and storage of goods, assisting with logistical reporting, organizing travel, managing freight, monitoring the fleet and fuel, conducting stock inventories, and informing program teams. The intern will also prepare kits, package items, transport goods, and participate in field distributions. Additionally, the intern will assist with accounting tasks such as maintaining journals, verifying receipts, invoicing, prepayments, budget monitoring, contributing to monthly closures, and preparing for audits. Participation in meetings, supporting teams across different zones, and contributing to monthly logistical and financial packs are also part of the mission life.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should have a background in humanitarian logistics, accounting and/or financial management, project management, development, international relations, or political science. They must possess administrative capabilities to undertake an internship or apprenticeship in France. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is essential. Strong analytical and writing skills, good synthesis and prioritization abilities, proactivity, critical thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure are also required. An interest in the context of water access in France and a commitment to the principles and work of Solidarités International are crucial.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have completed a relevant educational program in humanitarian logistics, accounting, financial management, project management, development, international relations, or political science. This educational background will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the organization's mission and operations.
Experience: The position is intended for interns, so prior experience in the field is not mandatory; however, any relevant experience in logistics, finance, or humanitarian work will be considered an asset. The internship is designed to provide practical experience and exposure to the workings of a humanitarian organization.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as the position is based in France and requires communication with local teams and stakeholders.
