Job Overview:
The Programme Coordinator for Family Planning will play a crucial role in supporting UNFPA's initiatives in Odisha, specifically focusing on strengthening Family Planning programs. This position involves providing technical and programmatic support for the rollout of new contraceptive methods, including sub-dermal implants and DMPA-SC, in intervention districts. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including the National Health Mission (NHM) and the Directorate of Family Welfare (DoFW), to enhance service delivery and increase the uptake of Family Planning services. The role requires a strong commitment to improving sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the region, ensuring that the initiatives align with national and global standards. The consultant will also be responsible for capacity building among service providers, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring the progress of Family Planning interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Coordinator include providing technical support for Family Planning initiatives, developing training curricula and clinical protocols, conducting site visits for mentoring support, coordinating with district facilitators, and mapping SRH interventions. The coordinator will also be responsible for capacity building of service providers, designing and facilitating training sessions, identifying training needs, and conducting post-training follow-ups. Engaging with stakeholders, facilitating technical sessions, and participating in task force meetings are also key responsibilities. The coordinator will work on increasing the uptake of modern contraceptive methods by identifying barriers and developing strategies to address them. Additionally, the role involves strengthening SRHR interventions, monitoring and documenting progress, and preparing reports for UNFPA.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MBBS degree, with a postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Community Medicine, or Obstetrics & Gynaecology being desirable. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in family planning, contraceptive services, and SRHR programs is required. Proven expertise in training, mentoring, and clinical supervision related to contraceptive services is essential. Experience working with government health systems and prior engagement with UN agencies or development partners is preferred. Familiarity with the Odisha context and public health delivery systems is also advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a mandatory MBBS degree. A postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Community Medicine, or Obstetrics & Gynaecology is considered desirable, indicating a preference for candidates with advanced knowledge and skills in these areas.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in family planning, contraceptive services, and SRHR programs. Candidates should have a proven track record in training, mentoring, and clinical supervision related to contraceptive services. Experience working with government health systems and prior engagement with UN agencies or development partners is highly desirable, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to navigate complex health systems and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of the Odia language will be considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication and engagement with local stakeholders and communities in Odisha.

This is a full-time position with a contract duration of up to 30 June 2026, which may be extended based on performance and availability of funds.
