Job Overview:
The Finance Specialist position within the INET Finance team at the Danish Refugee Council is a critical role that involves providing operational finance support to various implementing units. The INET Finance team is responsible for managing a large portfolio of grants, which often includes complex agreements that span multiple global operations. This role requires a strong financial acumen and the ability to analyze financial data to support decision-making processes. The Finance Specialist will work closely with project teams and finance counterparts in country operations and regional offices to ensure effective financial management and compliance with donor requirements. The position offers an opportunity to learn about diverse programs and develop a broad skill set in finance and grants management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Specialist will lead and coordinate budget revisions and the preparation of financial reports in collaboration with HQ project teams and finance counterparts. Key responsibilities include controlling booked transactions across the grant portfolio, supporting budgeting processes for grants and annual budgets, and providing analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis related to designated organizational areas. The role also involves reinforcing existing financial management procedures and systems in compliance with DRC’s Operations Handbook and donor guidelines. The Finance Specialist will be expected to contribute to financial decision-making through thoughtful analysis of financial data and to support the overall financial health of the organization’s projects.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to provide insightful analysis of financial data. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role requires collaboration with various stakeholders. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business administration or finance is required. Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Danish is desirable but not required. Candidates should also demonstrate a willingness to learn and seek areas for improvement within financial processes.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, finance, or a related discipline. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial management and grants administration within the humanitarian sector.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in generating management reports and supporting budget development for senior management teams. A solid background in financial management, preferably within an international humanitarian or development organization, is highly desirable. Familiarity with donor financial reporting requirements and experience using ERP systems will be advantageous for this role.

Languages:
Full professional proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. While not required, some proficiency in Danish is considered desirable and may enhance the candidate's profile. The ability to communicate effectively in English is essential for collaboration with international teams and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a permanent position based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a workplace located at Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Copenhagen Ø. The contract will be governed by the agreement between DRC and AC (agreement for academics) or other relevant collective agreements, and local terms and conditions will apply.
