Job Overview: The Health Specialist, NOC #5899, plays a crucial role in supporting the development and preparation of health programs, including primary health care and community health initiatives. The incumbent will manage, implement, monitor, evaluate, and report on the progress of health programs, focusing on areas such as gender, maternal, neonatal, and child survival/development. This position requires providing technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to ensure the achievement of sustainable results aligned with UNICEF's Strategic Plans and accountability frameworks. The Health Specialist will engage in strategic discussions, establish program goals, and collaborate with partners to enhance program management efficiency and delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support program development and planning by contributing to situation analyses, strategic planning, and design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design.
Manage program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and timely reporting.
Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners on health-related issues.
Build and sustain partnerships with stakeholders to promote health and development issues.
Innovate and apply best practices to enhance program delivery and capacity building initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in public health, nutrition, pediatric health, or a related field. A minimum of five years of professional experience in public health planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency preparedness is required. Experience in a developing country and within a UN system agency is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree in public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or another relevant technical field is required for this position.
Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in relevant areas such as public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency preparedness is essential. Experience working in a developing country is advantageous, as is relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization.
Languages: Fluency in French and English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset.
