Job Overview: The Consultant for Educational Program for Migrant Children will play a crucial role in designing and implementing a child-centered educational program aimed at addressing the educational and psychosocial needs of migrant children. This initiative is particularly focused on providing tailored support to children during their displacement and facilitating their reintegration into their home country's education system. The consultant will be responsible for creating an inclusive and participatory educational environment that fosters cognitive and emotional development, well-being, and environmental awareness among children. The role requires a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by migrant children and the ability to develop creative, interactive, and age-appropriate educational approaches that cater to their diverse backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake several key tasks, including:
Designing an educational program tailored to the specific needs of migrant children, focusing on language skills (especially French and English), basic literacy, numeracy, and exploratory subjects like science and technology.
Implementing the educational program through engaging, child-friendly learning sessions that encourage active participation and confidence-building.
Developing and leading recreational workshops aimed at promoting the psychosocial development and emotional resilience of children, ensuring activities are playful and culturally appropriate.
Conducting a comprehensive evaluation process throughout the program, including initial needs assessments, ongoing monitoring of progress, and final evaluations to measure learning outcomes and overall program impact.
Ensuring timely delivery of all outputs and reports, including program documentation and evaluation findings, in line with established timelines and quality standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Education, Child Development, Social Sciences, or related fields. Additional training in inclusive education, child protection, or non-formal education is considered an asset. The consultant should have proven experience of at least three years in designing and implementing educational or psychosocial programs for children, particularly in humanitarian, migration, or displacement contexts. Previous involvement in child protection, school reintegration, or non-formal education programs is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to work with children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Experience in using participatory, child-friendly, and inclusive methodologies in educational settings is also required.
Educational Background: A university degree in Education, Child Development, Social Sciences, or related fields is mandatory. Additional training in inclusive education, child protection, or non-formal education is highly desirable and will enhance the candidate's profile.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of proven experience in designing and implementing educational or psychosocial programs for children. Candidates should have a background in working within humanitarian, migration, or displacement contexts, with specific experience in child protection and school reintegration programs. Familiarity with participatory and inclusive educational methodologies is crucial, as is the ability to engage effectively with children from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

IOM covers consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents.
