Job Overview: The Movement Operations Associate (Field Support, Airport) plays a crucial role in the United States Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) by providing essential support to refugees and migrants arriving at Newark Liberty International Airport. This position involves direct interaction with beneficiaries, ensuring their safe and dignified arrival in the United States. The associate will be responsible for coordinating transit and ground transportation, assisting with airport formalities, and providing custodial care of travel documentation. The role requires a strong understanding of movement workflows and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including airlines and customs officials. The associate will also monitor and guide junior staff, ensuring that all operations are conducted in accordance with IOM's standards and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Movement Operations Associate include:
Undertaking field support activities primarily at Newark Liberty International Airport, including meeting and assisting beneficiaries upon arrival.
Organizing transit and ground transportation for beneficiaries and completing necessary administrative tasks.
Monitoring and guiding Movement Operations Assistants in their field support activities.
Assisting beneficiaries with all aspects of arrival procedures, including verifying identities and documentation, assisting with check-in and luggage formalities, and ensuring proper escorting to ground transportation.
Communicating with airlines, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and other vendors to resolve issues as they arise.
Preparing and completing required paperwork related to domestic transportation and post-arrival formalities.
Accompanying medical cases requiring immediate assistance to hospitals and ensuring proper documentation is completed.
Providing assistance at hotels for individuals in transit, particularly vulnerable populations.
Offering interpretation assistance for arriving migrants during immigration and customs procedures. 1
Certifying and validating domestic bookings and air ticket information in IOM systems. 1
Supporting training for new team members and preparing incident reports as necessary. 1
Maintaining confidentiality and integrity of all USRAP-related information and alerting management of any non-compliance with SOPs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in a related field from an accredited institution with at least three years of relevant work experience, or completed secondary education with five years of relevant working experience. Operational experience at a U.S. Port of Entry (POE) is required, along with a strong understanding of movement workflows and direct coordination with CBP. Demonstrated knowledge of airline processes and CBP procedures relevant to the arrival and onward movement of IOM-assisted beneficiaries is essential. Prior experience in movement operations, transportation-related roles, and management is strongly preferred, as well as experience in guiding and leading junior staff members and communicating effectively with beneficiaries.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a related field from an accredited academic institution, which should be complemented by three years of work experience. Alternatively, candidates may qualify with completed secondary education and five years of relevant working experience. The educational qualifications should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of migration operations and the specific requirements of the US Refugee Admissions Program.

The selected candidate will receive a monthly salary of USD 5,508.33 and must meet the badging and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-clearance" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security clearance requirements at the respective Port of Entry, which includes a background check and fingerprinting as per airport authority regulations. Candidates must reside in the U.S., with preference given to those who meet local or state residency requirements applicable for badging at the POE. The role entails physical duties, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling, and candidates must possess the physical capability to fulfill these tasks effectively and safely. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with its aims and objectives, including sexual exploitation and abuse, and does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
