The consultant will focus on mentorship, coordination support, and institutional strengthening to enhance the EPI Manager and team's capabilities in consolidating systems, improving internal processes, and enhancing leadership across core immunization functions. The role is crucial in ensuring effective governance and coordination of national EPI mechanisms, strengthening national ownership of EPI policy, and improving the leadership and management capacity of the national EPI team. The consultant will also work towards sustaining the use of data for decision-making in immunization programs and ensuring alignment between national strategies and district implementations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for strengthening national EPI leadership, governance, and coordination mechanisms. This includes supporting the finalization of EPI policy and strategic processes aligned with the National Immunisation Strategy (NIS) for 2024–202
The consultant will provide structured mentorship and on-the-job capacity building to the national EPI team, support district-level routine immunization planning, and ensure alignment with national priorities. Additionally, the consultant will strengthen data use for program improvement, including zero-dose analysis, and contribute to documentation, reporting, and partner coordination. The role requires regular collaboration with the Chief of Child Survival and Development at UNICEF Lesotho and the Ministry of Health.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Medicine, Public Health, Social Sciences, Communications, International Development, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in program implementation, coordination, advocacy, and immunization or similar roles is required. Proven experience working with UN agencies and international experience in developing nations is essential. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Previous experience with UNICEF is considered an asset.
