Job Overview: The Associate Private Sector Partnership Individual Giving Officer will play a crucial role in the Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) within UNHCR's Division of External Relations (DER). This position is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector to support refugees through individual giving initiatives. The officer will contribute to the development of innovative fundraising strategies aimed at increasing donor acquisition and retention, ensuring a sustainable income stream for UNHCR's operations. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Private Sector Partnership Individual Giving Officer include:
Developing and implementing fundraising strategies and products to recruit and retain individual donors, ensuring a strong connection with UNHCR.
Embedding digital transformation across all Individual Giving activities to enhance donor engagement.
Identifying new opportunities for donor acquisition and development, utilizing both online and offline channels.
Increasing monthly and one-time donations through various fundraising methods, including direct mail, telemarketing, and digital campaigns.
Managing relationships with partners, media, and suppliers to support PSP programs.
Overseeing the PSP donor database, analyzing campaign results, and providing insights for future marketing activities.
Preparing submissions for funding to support the Individual Giving program.
Supervising the Individual Giving team and ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations and data protection laws.
Engaging senior UNHCR staff to support fundraising activities and strengthen relationships with other divisions. 1
Monitoring risks and opportunities within the fundraising landscape and making informed decisions to achieve objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience in Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships, particularly in an international or humanitarian context. A strong track record of meeting fundraising targets and expertise in donor acquisition channels is essential. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of donor retention and development methods, including digital and telemarketing strategies. Experience in emergency fundraising and monthly giving programs is also required. Additionally, candidates should have experience in strategic planning, budget management, and the use of fundraising databases and software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective donor relations and team collaboration.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Political or Social Sciences, or a related field. Candidates with a graduate degree or doctorate will be considered with reduced years of experience. Relevant certifications in fundraising or marketing are also advantageous, as they demonstrate a commitment to professional development in the field.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience for candidates with an undergraduate degree. Candidates with a graduate degree need at least two years of experience, while those with a doctorate require one year of relevant experience. Experience should include a strong focus on Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships, with a proven ability to achieve fundraising targets and develop effective donor engagement strategies.
Languages: For this position, proficiency in English is mandatory, along with knowledge of the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English.
