Job Overview: The consultant position at UIL is integral to the Global Alliance for Literacy (GAL) and the Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC). The consultant will be responsible for supporting the GRALE 6 survey data collection among Member States, contributing to the implementation of core activities, and facilitating communication with GAL and GNLC members. The role involves organizing capacity-building workshops and webinars, as well as assisting team leaders in various tasks. The consultant will work closely with national focal points and participate in meetings to ensure effective data collection and project implementation. This position requires a proactive approach to promoting lifelong learning and supporting the development of educational resources and initiatives that align with UIL's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: 1) Supporting GRALE 6 Cluster activities by liaising with national focal points for data collection and preparing meeting minutes. 2) Contributing to the GAL workplan by promoting an online digital competencies course for literacy educators, preparing reports on course participation, and creating communication materials for webinars. 3) Assisting in the development of the GNLC Academy by designing capacity-building platforms and coordinating learning courses. 4) Organizing a series of webinars throughout the year, managing all aspects from planning to execution. 5) Coordinating progress reports on learning city development by designing surveys and analyzing collected data. 6) Preparing for the Seventh International Conference on Learning Cities by managing application processes and organizing awards. 7) Contributing to administrative tasks, including project document preparation and budget monitoring.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in political sciences, international relations, education, social sciences, development studies, or related fields. They should have at least two years of relevant work experience in project coordination or management, particularly in education, lifelong learning, or international cooperation. Experience in organizing multi-stakeholder activities, data coordination, and communications is essential. Familiarity with international projects, especially those involving local governments or public institutions, is highly desirable. Previous experience within the UNESCO system is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate excellent drafting and communication skills, analytical abilities, and proficiency in MS Office and data visualization tools.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as political sciences, international relations, education, social sciences, or development studies is required for this position. Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in project coordination or management.
