Job Overview:
The position of National Individual Consultant for Clinical Psychologists is designed to provide specialized psychological services within the framework of UNDP's initiatives in Pakistan. The consultant will be responsible for delivering clinical assessments, therapeutic interventions, and psychological support to individuals in need, particularly in the context of UNDP's projects in Lahore and Multan. The consultant will work closely with local stakeholders and UNDP teams to ensure that psychological services are integrated into broader development programs. The role requires a deep understanding of mental health issues prevalent in the region, as well as the ability to adapt interventions to meet the cultural and social needs of the population. The consultant will also be expected to contribute to capacity-building efforts, training local staff, and developing resources that enhance mental health services in the area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for individuals referred through UNDP programs, utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools and methodologies.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, ensuring that interventions are culturally sensitive and evidence-based.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to clients, focusing on a range of mental health issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress management.
  • Collaborate with UNDP project teams and local health providers to integrate mental health services into existing programs, ensuring a holistic approach to development.
  • Participate in training and capacity-building initiatives for local staff and community health workers, enhancing their skills in mental health support and intervention.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of psychological interventions, providing feedback and recommendations for program improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and treatment outcomes, adhering to ethical guidelines and UNDP policies.
  • Engage in community outreach activities to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote available services.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Valid licensure or certification to practice as a clinical psychologist in Pakistan.
  • Proven experience in providing psychological services, particularly in clinical settings or community-based programs.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues and challenges faced by populations in Pakistan, especially in the context of development work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using psychological assessment tools and therapeutic techniques.
  • Familiarity with UNDP's mission and development goals is an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology or a closely related field. The educational background should include comprehensive training in psychological assessment, therapeutic techniques, and mental health interventions. Additional certifications or training in specialized areas of psychology, such as trauma-informed care or community mental health, will be considered advantageous.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in clinical psychology, with a focus on providing psychological services in community or development contexts. Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly in crisis or post-conflict settings, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNDP or similar international organizations will be an added advantage, as it demonstrates an understanding of the operational environment and the challenges faced in implementing mental health programs.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is highly desirable, as it will facilitate better communication with clients and stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region may also be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is set for a total of 90 working days, spread over a period of 5 months, commencing from the date of signing the contract. This position is classified as a national consultant role, and candidates must be residents of Pakistan. The position is part-time, with flexible working hours based on the needs of the clients and the UNDP projects. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, in line with UNDP's remuneration policies.
