Job Overview: The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) activities for children aged 6-23 months across various health facilities in the district. This position involves close collaboration with the District Health Office (DHO) and local partners to ensure the effective delivery of services to vulnerable populations. The intern will assist in data management, project evaluation, and capacity-building efforts, ensuring adherence to medical and nutritional protocols. The role is integral to strengthening government supplementary feeding program structures and enhancing the quality of implementation in line with CRS program quality principles and donor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities include supporting the district coordination and implementation of project activities as per the detailed implementation plan. This involves monitoring and reporting on district challenges, assisting partners in project evaluations, and collecting data on capacity needs of TSFP implementing structures. The intern will facilitate training for health staff, organize regular reports on TSFP activities, ensure proper transfer of children from Nutritional Rehabilitation Units (NRU) to TSFP, and maintain adherence to treatment protocols. Additionally, the intern will work with the District Nutritionist to ensure quality reporting from health facilities and facilitate the screening of children for referrals. The role also includes following up on absentees and maintaining accurate records of children and TSFP staff.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Familiarity with health program implementation and monitoring is preferred, as well as a commitment to the mission and values of CRS.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Nursing, Public Health, or Nutrition is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support the TSFP activities and engage with health staff and community members.
Experience: The position is designed for individuals who may have limited professional experience, such as recent graduates or those with internships in related fields. However, any prior experience in health program implementation, monitoring, or community engagement will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for reporting purposes. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the district would be advantageous and is considered a plus for effective community engagement.
Additional Notes: This internship is a full-time position, and candidates must be legally eligible to work in Malawi.
