Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed to support the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts in the lead-up to the 2026 National Youth Week celebrations. This role is crucial for enhancing youth participation in governance and national development through innovative and engaging online content. Volunteers will be responsible for creating a cohesive branding strategy for Youth Week, managing social media content, and fostering online interactions with youth communities. The overarching goal is to ensure that the celebrations reflect inclusive participation and highlight the contributions of youth to Zambia's socio-economic progress. Volunteers will work collaboratively with the digital team to ensure that messaging aligns with the national theme and objectives of the event.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop consistent branding for Youth Week that aligns with the national theme, ensuring all materials reflect a unified message.
  • Manage and schedule social media content using approved materials and hashtags to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Create and share engaging multimedia content, including posts, videos, stories, graphics, posters, banners, flyers, and T-shirt designs that resonate with the youth audience.
  • Interact with youth communities and followers online to foster engagement and encourage participation in the celebrations.
  • Amplify official content through personal social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to broaden the campaign's visibility.
  • Monitor and report basic engagement metrics, including likes, shares, comments, registrations, and reach, to assess the effectiveness of the campaign.
  • Deliver final design files in print-ready and shareable formats to ensure high-quality dissemination of materials.
  • Attend virtual check-ins with the youth week digital team to align on messaging and campaign updates, ensuring all volunteers are informed and coordinated in their efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, creativity, and a passion for youth empowerment and community engagement. Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools is essential. Volunteers should be able to work collaboratively in a virtual environment and demonstrate initiative in developing engaging content. A background in marketing, communications, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory. Additionally, a commitment to the values of volunteerism and community service is crucial for this role.

Educational Background:
While specific educational qualifications are not strictly required, candidates with experience or coursework in marketing, communications, graphic design, or social media management will find themselves well-prepared for this role. A strong understanding of youth culture and trends will also be beneficial in creating relevant content that resonates with the target audience.

Experience:
Previous experience in social media management, content creation, or volunteer work is preferred but not mandatory. Languages:
