Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UN Women was established in July 2010 as the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. It was created as part of the UN reform agenda to consolidate resources and mandates for greater impact on gender equality and women's empowerment. UN Women merges and builds on the work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system that focused on gender issues. The organization operates globally, advocating for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, empowering women, and achieving equality between women and men. UN Women is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment, promoting mutual respect, and ensuring that all employment decisions are based on qualifications and organizational needs. The organization is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of conduct and has a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct.

Job Overview:
The Operations Analyst (P1) position at UN Women is designed to provide operational, financial, and administrative support to the Research and Data Section within the Policy, Programme and Intergovernmental Division (PPID). This role is crucial for ensuring effective program implementation and sound financial management. The Operations Analyst will be involved in supporting one of two major workstreams: the global gender data programme, Making Every Woman and Girl Count (Women Count), or flagship research and policy analysis. The incumbent will report to the Programme Management Specialist or the Deputy Chief of the Research and Data Section and will work closely with various teams to facilitate the delivery of results. The position requires a proactive approach to managing programmatic and financial processes, ensuring compliance with UN Women’s regulations, and contributing to the overall mission of promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Analyst will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Providing program management and implementation support by contributing to the biennial workplan and budget, ensuring accurate data entry in relevant systems, and managing partner agreements.
  • Offering financial and budget management support, including creating project budgets, monitoring budget implementation, and producing financial reports.
  • Delivering administrative and operational support by overseeing procurement, human resources processes, and logistical arrangements for events and meetings.
  • Facilitating knowledge building and sharing by keeping abreast of UN Women’s policies and supporting the development of operational guidance tools.
  • Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Research and Data Section.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of program and project management, particularly in finance and operations. They should have expertise in financial and budget management, as well as the ability to administer and execute administrative processes. Excellent organizational, coordination, and planning skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse constituencies. Familiarity with IT systems, including ERP and Microsoft Office, is required, as is the capacity to work in a multicultural environment and handle confidential matters discreetly.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in business administration, public administration, or a related field is required for this position. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of experience in program/project management, operations, or financial management. Strong administrative and operational experience in support of development or flagship programs is required. Experience with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is essential, as is proficiency in office software packages. Experience in organizing events and supporting teams is also necessary, while experience within the UN system is considered desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, or Russian, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may involve working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The recruitment process will include rigorous reference and background checks, including verification of academic credentials and employment history. UN Women is committed to diversity and inclusion, and all employment decisions will be made based on qualifications and organizational needs. Candidates requiring reasonable accommodation during the recruitment process should indicate this in their application.
