Job Overview: The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern - Graphic Designer position at UNIC Mexico is designed for individuals who are passionate about communication and design. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Director of UNIC and the National Information Officer (NIO). This internship is an unpaid opportunity that requires full-time commitment of 35 hours per week for a duration of six months. The intern will be involved in various communication activities, including research, drafting, and production of audiovisual communication products. The role also includes assisting with outreach efforts to diverse audiences through both traditional and digital communication channels. The intern will support the strategic communication initiatives of the United Nations in Mexico and collaborate with UN System agencies to coordinate communication activities. This position offers a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in multimedia production and digital content creation while contributing to the UN's mission in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Supporting the communications activities of UNIC Mexico, particularly in research, drafting, and production of communications products, especially audiovisual materials.
Assisting in outreach efforts to various publics through traditional and new digital communication means.
Supporting the strategic communication of the United Nations in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Coordinating communication activities among UN System agencies in Mexico through the Communication Group.
Producing multimedia stories and digital assets for web and social media accounts.
Drafting and editing written, audiovisual, and digital content in both Spanish and English.
Assisting with the daily liaison with civil society, academia, and NGOs in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic.
Helping to organize events and collaborate with the public and private sectors on UN-related issues.
Promoting UN education and youth participation through cooperation with civil society. 1
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following qualifications: a. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b. Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, candidates should possess skills and knowledge that would benefit the United Nations during their internship.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree program. This indicates that candidates should have a strong academic foundation, preferably in fields related to communications, graphic design, media studies, or a related discipline.
Experience: This internship does not require any prior work experience, making it an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in a professional setting.
