Job Overview: The role involves providing remote technical accompaniment support aimed at enhancing the capacity of Civil Society Groups (CSGs) in managing their organizational and operational development. Volunteers will co-develop inclusive tools, frameworks, and learning resources that are tailored to the diverse contexts of these groups. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in organization design and development, demonstrating a proven ability to strengthen organizational and operational capacity. This includes embedding inclusive governance and leadership practices, as well as supporting CSGs in building accountable, resilient, participatory, and sustainable systems. The role is crucial in facilitating participatory self-assessments and co-designing accessible technical and learning resources, integrating digital platforms to bolster organizational strengthening.
Duties and Responsibilities: The volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at supporting Civil Society Groups (CSGs). Key duties include:
Providing remote technical support to CSGs to enhance their organizational and operational capacities.
Co-developing inclusive tools and frameworks that cater to the specific needs of different CSGs.
Facilitating participatory self-assessments to help CSGs identify their strengths and areas for improvement.
Designing and co-creating accessible technical and learning resources that can be utilized by CSGs in their development efforts.
Integrating digital platforms into the organizational strengthening process to enhance efficiency and outreach.
Supporting CSGs in implementing inclusive governance and leadership practices.
Building sustainable systems within CSGs that promote accountability and resilience.
Collaborating with other volunteers and stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in organization design and development, with a focus on enhancing organizational and operational capacity. Proven experience in facilitating participatory processes and co-designing resources is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to inclusive governance and leadership practices, as well as the ability to support CSGs in building sustainable systems. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups are also required.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in fields such as organizational development, social sciences, international development, or a related area is preferred. Advanced qualifications or certifications in organizational design or capacity building may be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in organization design and development, particularly in contexts similar to those of Civil Society Groups. Experience in facilitating participatory assessments and co-designing resources is highly desirable. Familiarity with digital platforms for organizational strengthening will be beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within VSO and with many of the CSGs. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the regions where CSGs operate would be considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local communities.
Additional Notes: The position is a volunteer role, and while an allowance will be provided to cover reasonable living expenses in the host country, it may not be sufficient to send money home.
