Job Overview:
The position of Early Career Graduate (Origin) as a Full-Stack Developer in the Web Team at CERN offers a unique opportunity to work in a multinational and multi-disciplinary environment. The role is part of the Media and Digital Communications section within the Education, Communication and Outreach group. The successful candidate will engage in the design and development of CERN's core websites, web tools, and applications, utilizing modern programming languages and tools. This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the Web Team's efforts in creating user-friendly and efficient web applications. The role combines full-stack development with website management, providing a comprehensive experience in web development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Full-Stack Developer include:
  • Participating in design and development sprints for CERN's core websites and web applications.
  • Developing and maintaining the CERN WordPress Distribution, including themes, plugins, and APIs.
  • Managing and supporting CERN's WordPress websites to ensure optimal performance and user experience.
  • Collaborating with designers to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces that enhance user engagement.
  • Supporting the CERN WordPress Community by providing assistance and guidance to users.
  • Engaging in modern web development practices, including content management system development and modern front-end frameworks.
  • Utilizing version control systems and configuration management tools to streamline development workflows.
  • Implementing automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality and reliability.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong foundation in content management system development, particularly with WordPress, and have experience in developing and maintaining both static and dynamic content. Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React or Vue.js is essential. Proficiency in version control systems like Git and modern development workflows is required. Additionally, candidates should have experience with configuration management tools and container-based technologies such as Docker. A commitment to learning and improving skills in modern web development practices is crucial.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to succeed in this role. Applicants without a university degree are not eligible, and those with a PhD will also not be considered for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation. This experience should be relevant to the field of web development and demonstrate the candidate's ability to contribute effectively to the Web Team's projects. The compensation package includes a monthly stipend ranging from 5196 to 5716 Swiss Francs, which is tax-free, along with 30 days of paid leave per year and additional benefits such as comprehensive health insurance, family allowances, and a relocation package. On-the-job training and formal training opportunities, including language classes, are also provided.
