Job Overview: The Identity and Access Management Service Manager at CERN will play a crucial role in enhancing the daily digital experience for thousands of researchers and engineers. This position is situated within the Platforms & Workflows group in the IT Department, which consists of approximately 30 experienced engineers. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage CERN's Identity and Access Management Service, a custom-built .NET platform that provisions and manages user identities, accounts, and authorizations. The successful candidate will be involved in software design and development, focusing on both backend and frontend aspects, as well as system integrations and migrations. This role requires engaging with the user community to gather requirements and enhance the service, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organization. The candidate will also mentor junior team members and oversee service operations, including configuration, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Identity and Access Management Service Manager include designing and developing software for the Identity and Access Management Service, making architectural decisions, and engaging in backend and frontend development. The role involves managing service operations, which encompasses configuration, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and bug fixing. The manager will also mentor junior team members, supervise their technical tasks, and engage with the user community to gather requirements and enhance the service. Additionally, the candidate will provide advanced support, documentation, and training to the user community, ensuring a smooth online experience for all users.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Computer Science or a related field. Extensive experience with object-oriented programming and relational databases is required, preferably with .NET and C#, SQL, and MySQL/Oracle. Demonstrated experience in systems architecture, integrations, and migrations is essential, along with advanced user support and stakeholder management. Familiarity with technologies such as reactJS, Oracle, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM), Gitlab CI, and Openshift is considered a strong advantage. Experience in both Windows and Linux environments is also beneficial.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required for this position. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered. The educational background should include a strong foundation in programming techniques and languages, particularly .NET, C#, SQL, and MySQL/Oracle.
Experience: Candidates should have extensive experience in object-oriented programming and relational databases, with a strong emphasis on .NET and C#. Experience in systems architecture, integrations, and migrations is crucial. The role also requires demonstrated experience in advanced user support and stakeholder management, as well as familiarity with software life-cycle tools and procedures, including proficiency with Git and CI/CD tools.

Additional Notes: This position is a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of extension up to 8 years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The job requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with hybrid working flexibility. The role may involve working during nights, Sundays, and official holidays as required by the organization's needs.
