The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the leading United Nations agency dedicated to advancing sexual and reproductive health. Established to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender equality, UNFPA’s India Country Office collaborates closely with the Government of India and various partners to achieve the goals set out in the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. UNFPA India is currently implementing its 10th Country Programme (CP-10) for the period 2023–2027, which envisions an inclusive India where every woman and young person, including those from vulnerable and marginalized groups, can enjoy gender equality and fully realize their sexual and reproductive health and rights. UNFPA provides technical and programmatic support to the State Government and selected districts in Madhya Pradesh, focusing on family planning and maternal health interventions.

Job Overview:
The SRHR Consultant will serve as an Individual Consultant based in the UNFPA State office in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. This role is crucial for providing technical assistance and coordination support to strengthen Family Planning interventions across the State and in UNFPA-supported districts. The consultant will work closely with the UNFPA State Head, other UNFPA consultants, District Facilitators, and implementing partners to ensure effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of Family Planning interventions. The consultant will also facilitate capacity building, knowledge exchange, and documentation of best practices to enhance the rollout of newer contraceptives. Over the six-month contract, the consultant will act as a techno-managerial resource for UNFPA in Madhya Pradesh, supporting the achievement of Family Planning and Sexual Reproductive Health outcomes while contributing to broader health and development priorities at the state level.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's specific roles and responsibilities include leading and coordinating the rollout of family planning interventions across five UNFPA focus districts, developing comprehensive implementation plans, ensuring timely execution of activities, mapping family planning interventions, establishing databases of service providers, identifying capacity gaps, providing technical support for training initiatives, supporting human resource planning, monitoring and supervision of interventions, facilitating stakeholder engagement, conducting regular review meetings, strengthening coordination between partner organizations and government bodies, tracking supportive supervision visits, preparing analytical reports, and undertaking field visits to document best practices. The consultant will also undertake any other tasks assigned by UNFPA to support the rollout of family planning interventions.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires an advanced qualification in health management, preferably a master’s in public health or health management. Candidates should have at least 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in project management related to public health programs, experience working with UN agencies and at the State level, and a strong understanding of government departments, particularly the Health Department. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills in English and Hindi are essential, along with proven experience in budget management and reporting, and proficiency in MS Office. The ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams is also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced qualification in health management, ideally a master’s degree in public health or health management, to ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in project management within public health programs. Experience working with UN agencies and engaging with government departments, particularly in the health sector, is crucial. Familiarity with family planning and maternal health initiatives is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of one of the Indian official languages is desirable, while knowledge of other UN languages is considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy is a full-time position with a duration of six months, from January 2026 to June 2026, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and satisfactory performance. The consultant will receive an honorarium commensurate with their qualifications and experience, along with daily subsistence allowance (DSA) for travel days as per UN norms. The consultant will be based in Bhopal, with services to be delivered in the State and identified districts. Regular reports on activities will be required, and the consultant will interact frequently with the UNFPA State Head and other officials for coordination and technical support.
