Job Overview: The National ProjectCoordinator will be responsible for leading the timely implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of a project aimed at enhancing employment opportunities and promoting decent work in Zimbabwe. This role involves providing technical and administrative supervision to the project team, ensuring compliance with ILO policies and regulations, and contributing to the development of project proposals and strategies. The coordinator will also engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, employers' and workers' organizations, and other partners, to facilitate effective project execution. The position requires a strong commitment to gender equality and the ability to integrate gender considerations into project activities. The coordinator will be expected to maintain high-level communications to increase the project's visibility and impact, both nationally and internationally.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the project implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards while providing technical and administrative supervision to the project team.
Develop and draft project proposals, budget proposals, and country strategy papers, while monitoring the progress of ILO programs and activities.
Identify challenges in project execution, propose solutions, and coordinate with relevant departments and stakeholders to expedite implementation.
Provide legal and policy advice to government and social partners on fundamental principles and rights at work, focusing on freedom of association and collective bargaining.
Organize training programs and awareness-raising activities to enhance understanding of labor rights.
Ensure the delivery of quality technical inputs, including research aligned with ILO core conventions.
Foster collaboration with government, employers, and workers' organizations in project planning and implementation.
Establish a knowledge management system for project-related technical activities.
Represent the project in various forums and maintain relations with media to enhance project visibility. 1
Report on project components, prepare technical progress reports, and manage project personnel effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in economics, social sciences, or a related field, with a strong understanding of development issues, particularly in the context of Zimbabwe. Additionally, candidates should have a good knowledge of labor economics, economic development, poverty reduction, and social policies. Familiarity with the policy-making process is also essential.
