Job Overview:
The Grants Adviser position is designed to provide advanced grant management support to the Grants Manager and the implementation and operations team. The primary focus of this role is to ensure timely and quality proposal development, identify funding opportunities, and manage grants effectively. This includes ensuring compliance with internal and donor requirements, timely reporting, and maintaining effective communication channels regarding grants. The Grants Adviser will play a crucial role in adhering to NRC’s Project Cycle Management (PCM) framework, contributing to a culture of accountability and high performance within the organization. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure that all aspects of grant management are executed efficiently and effectively, ultimately supporting NRC's mission to assist those in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Adviser will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: adhering to NRC policies and procedures, maintaining an overview of all grants and donor requirements, leading the development of concept notes and proposals, ensuring donor compliance, and managing internal grant management systems. Specific tasks include organizing proposal planning meetings, building relationships with other teams, compiling accurate proposal budgets, coordinating grant agreements, monitoring donor reporting, and ensuring compliance with donor regulations. The role also involves training and capacity building for field staff, maintaining high standards of information management, and representing NRC with partners and donors as needed. The Grants Adviser will also be responsible for facilitating Project Cycle Management activities and ensuring that all documentation required by donors is properly maintained.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Grants Adviser position should possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role within a humanitarian or recovery context. A bachelor's degree in Economics, Communications, International Development, or a related field is required, while a master's degree is considered an asset. Applicants should have experience in donor relations and grants management, a strong understanding of donor rules and regulations, and proven skills in report and proposal development. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a willingness to travel to area offices as needed.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Communications, or International Development. A master's degree in a related discipline is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in the principles of grant management and humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in grant management, particularly in a humanitarian or recovery context. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with institutional humanitarian and development donors, demonstrating their ability to navigate complex grant management processes and compliance requirements effectively. Experience in at least one of NRC's core competencies is also essential, as is familiarity with the dynamics of the humanitarian sector.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all applications and communications will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the regions in which NRC operates. Proficiency in local languages can enhance communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
