Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer (UNV) Specialist in Business Partnerships for Children will play a crucial role in operationalizing UNICEF's new partnership strategy aimed at engaging the private sector to support children's rights. This position involves building a robust pipeline of corporate allies and co-creating impactful initiatives that deliver social value for children while also providing sustainable value for businesses. The successful candidate will work closely with the Communications Officer and the Country Management Team to revitalize the Business Advisory Council, enhance private sector partnerships, and support fundraising and resource mobilization efforts. This role is vital for mobilizing the private sector as a force for good, contributing to a more equitable future for children in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UNV Specialist include:
  • Revitalization of the Business Advisory Council (BAC): Reviewing the current structure, membership, and performance of BAC; organizing consultations with members and stakeholders; assisting in the production of a revitalization plan; proposing mechanisms for ongoing dialogue; and organizing meetings.
  • Private Sector Partnership: Updating the mapping of potential private sector partners; creating tailored value propositions; supporting outreach and relationship-building with high-potential companies; and co-creating new partnership concepts.
  • Fundraising and Resource Mobilization: Identifying innovative fundraising opportunities; providing inputs for embedding private sector fundraising into the resource mobilization strategy; and assisting in donor stewardship and impact reporting.
  • Communication, Branding, and Visibility: Assisting in the production of communication and visibility plans for high-profile donors; monitoring and reporting on communication components of EU-funded projects; and supporting the communication team in producing various communication assets.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate integrity and professionalism, accountability, commitment to continuous learning, effective planning and organizing skills, teamwork, and respect for diversity. They should possess a high degree of autonomy, personal initiative, and the ability to manage information objectively and confidentially. A genuine commitment to the principles of voluntary engagement is also essential.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in business administration, social sciences, international relations, or a related field. Advanced degrees may be preferred, particularly for candidates with significant experience in partnership development or fundraising.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in partnership development, fundraising, or resource mobilization, preferably within the context of international development or humanitarian work. Experience working with the private sector and knowledge of corporate social responsibility initiatives will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in local languages such as Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset.

The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The position may require the candidate to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, depending on the duty station's specific requirements.
