Job Overview: The intern will work under the supervision of the Evaluation Officer, providing essential administrative support to the Evaluation Office (EOU). This role involves assisting with specific evaluations and managing administrative and logistical services for the office. The intern will be expected to engage in various tasks that support the evaluation function, including data management, communication, and report preparation. The position is designed to provide valuable experience in the field of environmental evaluation and policy, allowing the intern to contribute to UNEP's mission while gaining insights into the workings of a major international organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Support: The intern will assist the EOU IT Focal Point by managing records of official equipment, monitoring usage and storage on SharePoint/OneDrive, and identifying ICT-related capacity needs. They will also support the EOU security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Focal Point by maintaining contact details for security purposes and facilitating access for external visitors. Additionally, the intern will help with office space and equipment needs.
Evaluation Function Support: The intern will ensure that evaluation reports meet EOU formatting requirements, disseminate finalized reports to relevant stakeholders, and provide logistical support for interviews and meetings. They will assist with ad-hoc tasks as requested by Evaluation Officers.
Data Management and Reporting: The intern will help develop and maintain EOU databases, prepare data sets, and assist in data quality checks. They will also translate data results into reports and presentations.
Communication: The intern will assist in publicizing evaluation reports, updating content for UNEP platforms, and liaising with staff to prepare communication products. They will also implement improvements to enhance communication methods within UNEP.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed undergraduate studies in Environmental Management, Development Studies, or International Policy. They should meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program, or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, along with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Applicants should demonstrate resourcefulness and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships across diverse cultural backgrounds.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to have completed undergraduate studies in a relevant field such as Environmental Management, Development Studies, or International Policy. Applicants must either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. A closely related field of study is essential for the internship.
Experience: While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic backgrounds that align with the internship's focus.
