Job Overview:
The Statistics and Monitoring Officer (Nutrition) position is situated within the Chief Statistician’s Office at UNICEF. This role is pivotal in enhancing the quality, relevance, availability, and utilization of data and contextual information concerning children and women. The officer will engage in various activities, including supporting data collection, analysis, and database management related to nutrition indicators critical to UNICEF's mission. The position also involves analyzing core nutrition outcomes and intervention coverage results from major surveys like MICS and DHS, disseminating findings through various media, and collaborating closely with team members and other stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including:
  • Data collection, compilation, and analysis, ensuring quality assurance of nutrition-related data.
  • Capacity development and support for countries in utilizing nutrition data effectively.
  • Dissemination of data findings and advocacy for nutrition issues through reports and other media.
  • Building partnerships and representing UNICEF in inter-agency activities related to nutrition data.
  • Utilizing software and IT tools for data management and analysis.
  • Developing methodologies for data workflow from collection to publication, ensuring that all processes align with UNICEF's standards and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in fields such as Health Administration, Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Public Policy, or Social Sciences. An advanced degree (master's or higher) is considered a strong asset. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in areas such as Nutrition, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Infant and Young Child Feeding, Monitoring, Data Collection, Data Analysis, and Database Management. Proficiency in statistical programming and software such as Stata, SPSS, or R is essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Health Administration, Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Public Policy, or Social Sciences. An advanced degree is highly desirable and considered a strong asset for candidates seeking this role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in fields related to Nutrition, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Infant and Young Child Feeding, Monitoring, Data Collection, Data Analysis, and Database Management.
