Job Overview:
The Electro-Mécanicien Automobile will work under the functional supervision of the Fleet and Garage Manager and the general supervision of the Sub-Office Chief. This position is crucial for the repair and maintenance of light vehicles, trucks, and generators that are essential for the effective operation of WFP in Miragoane, Jérémie, and Jacmel. The role involves not only technical skills but also a commitment to ensuring that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards to support WFP's humanitarian missions. The incumbent will be expected to assist in implementing activities related to the garage and fleet operations in the southern region of Haiti, ensuring that all vehicles are operational and safe for use in various humanitarian contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Electro-Mécanicien Automobile include: performing maintenance and repairs on light vehicles, trucks, and generators for WFP and its partners; executing major repairs such as gearboxes, tires, engines, suspension systems, steering, air conditioning, braking systems, and more; planning maintenance for all mechanical and hydraulic systems according to technical guidelines; diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical failures; disassembling and assembling defective components following recommended safety procedures; making informed decisions regarding the restoration or replacement of worn parts; conducting regular inspections of all vehicles and generators; developing intervention plans and procedures for repairs; requesting parts or recommending specialized work; maintaining cleanliness and order in workshops and ensuring proper tool usage; preparing requests for parts and consumables as needed; receiving physical parts and consumables in the store; managing inventory and stock levels; preparing orders for spare parts; and performing any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Brevet de Technicien or Brevet de Technicien Supérieur in mechanical or automotive electro-mechanics, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, candidates should have at least ten years of progressive experience in automotive mechanics and electricity, demonstrating a strong background in the field. Knowledge of electronics and air conditioning systems for heavy trucks and light vehicles, as well as experience in the repair and maintenance of generators and motorcycles, is essential. Candidates should also be capable of performing welding tasks as required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a technical diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering, specifically in electro-mechanics or a related field. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of vehicle systems and ensuring effective maintenance and repair processes.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in automotive mechanics and electricity. This experience should encompass a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems, with a focus on practical skills in diagnosing and repairing vehicles and related equipment. Candidates should demonstrate a history of working in similar roles, ideally within humanitarian or emergency response contexts, where quick and effective solutions are necessary.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the region. Additionally, an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable, as it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered on a contract basis for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs and performance.
