Job Overview: The Health & Nutrition Officer provides professional technical assistance and support for the design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of health and nutrition program/project activities. This includes data analysis, progress reporting, knowledge networking, and capacity building, all aimed at achieving the planned objectives of the work plan aligned with Health & Nutrition program goals and strategy. The officer will report to the Programme Officer in Dapaong and collaborate closely with various specialists and stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective delivery of results. The role emphasizes the importance of integrating health and nutrition programs with other sectors, establishing partnerships, and promoting innovative approaches to address health and nutrition determinants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support health and nutrition program development, planning, and implementation by assisting in designing, planning, monitoring, and evaluating programs.
Provide technical assistance in integrating health and nutrition with other sectors.
Contribute to partnerships that promote innovative approaches to maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition.
Assist in planning and managing the Health and Nutrition Programme with government and partners.
Identify capacity development needs and facilitate training for effective program delivery. 1
Introduce innovations and best practices in health and nutrition programming, especially in emergencies.
Required Qualifications: A university degree in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, or another health-related field is required. An advanced degree in any of these fields is an asset. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in health and nutrition programs, particularly in emergency contexts. Experience with UN or international development organizations is advantageous.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in fields related to health and nutrition, such as nutrition, public health, or health sciences. An advanced degree is preferred and considered an asset for this position.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in health and nutrition programs. Experience in implementing adolescent health, reproductive maternal child health (RMCH), and nutrition programming in emergency contexts is essential. Working experience with the UN or other international development organizations is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in French is required for this position. Knowledge of English and a local language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration in the diverse environments where UNICEF operates.
