Job Overview:
The Operations Associate (Field Support) in Casablanca plays a crucial role in supporting the organized movement of migrants and refugees under IOM's auspices. This position involves undertaking field support activities in various settings, including airports, transit centers, and third-party facilities. The Operations Associate is responsible for ensuring that individuals in need of assistance receive the necessary support throughout their journey, from arrival to departure. This includes verifying documentation, assisting with airport formalities, and providing care and support to vulnerable individuals. The role requires effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and the safety and comfort of all individuals involved. The Operations Associate must also maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards while reporting any issues to supervisors promptly.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Associate (Field Support) will undertake a variety of duties, including:
  • Conducting field support activities at designated locations such as airports, transit centers, and camps.
  • Performing airport services, including verifying identities and documentation, assisting with check-in and luggage formalities, and ensuring compliance with immigration and customs procedures.
  • Providing assistance to individuals at transit centers, including orientation, food distribution, and room assignments.
  • Entering and updating relevant data in the appropriate systems to ensure accurate tracking of individuals.
  • Coordinating transportation logistics, including liaising with service providers and ensuring the readiness of individuals for transport.
  • Assisting with baggage handling and providing support during transportation.
  • Offering selection mission support and interpretation services as needed.
  • Reporting any issues or non-compliance to supervisors and maintaining confidentiality of all relevant paperwork.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma with four years of relevant work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with two years of relevant work experience. Prior experience in Movement Operations or transportation is highly advantageous. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet usage. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree. Relevant work experience in the field of migration, transportation, or operations is highly valued and may substitute for formal education in some cases.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in Movement Operations or related transportation roles. A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required for those with a Bachelor’s degree, while candidates with a high school diploma should have at least four years of relevant experience. Experience working with vulnerable populations and knowledge of migration processes will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Additionally, a working knowledge of English and/or Arabic is desirable, as it will facilitate communication with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Casablanca, Morocco, and may require extended hours, including overnight shifts and weekends, to meet the needs of individuals in transit. The role is full-time and may involve working in various locations, including airports and transit centers.
