Job Overview: The Programme Policy Officer for Advocacy will play a crucial role in the production of a high-quality podcast series aimed at enhancing stakeholder engagement and visibility for WFP Zimbabwe. This position involves providing technical and creative expertise throughout the podcast production process, from conceptualization to post-production. The podcast will serve as a platform for strategic storytelling, advocacy, and influence, amplifying voices from Zimbabwe’s development ecosystem and showcasing transformative solutions to pressing challenges such as food insecurity and climate change. The consultant will work closely with the WFP External Relations team to ensure that the podcast aligns with WFP’s communication standards and advocacy objectives, ultimately contributing to the organization’s mission of achieving Zero Hunger through inclusive, locally led solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Collaborating with WFP External Relations teams to define the podcast format, tone, and target audience.
Developing an editorial calendar for 13 episodes over three months.
Advising on branding elements such as the podcast name, intro/outro music, and visual identity.
Researching topics aligned with WFP’s priorities and drafting episode outlines, interview questions, and scripts.
Conducting pre-interviews with guests where feasible.
Co-managing technical setup for audio and video recording and advising on delivery direction to ensure engaging content.
Supporting the editing of audio and video for clarity and quality, integrating music and branding elements.
Recommending hosting platforms and assisting with initial setup, drafting show notes, episode descriptions, and SEO-optimized titles.
Advising on promotional strategies across WFP digital channels. 1
Conducting quality checks to ensure compliance with WFP branding and communication standards before final delivery.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media production, marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in podcast, radio, or TV production, with a proven track record in audio storytelling and content creation. Experience working with international organizations or in humanitarian contexts is desirable. Strong interviewing, research, and editorial skills are essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is crucial, and familiarity with WFP’s mandate and advocacy principles is an advantage.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media production, marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role, providing a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in media production and advocacy work.

Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to last for 11 months, starting from the contract signature date. The position is based in Harare, Zimbabwe, and the consultant must reside in Harare and have access to reliable internet. The role is full-time, and the consultant will report to the Head of External Relations.
