Job Overview: The Principal, Green Specialist, plays a crucial role in driving the green agenda for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the EBRD framework. This position involves supporting the development and implementation of various green and sustainability programs tailored to the needs of SMEs. The Principal will work closely with different teams within the EBRD, particularly in the areas of Corporate Sector and Financial Institutions, to ensure that green solutions are effectively integrated into the bank's offerings. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities in the green sector, particularly in relation to climate change, environmental issues, and green financing. The Principal will also be responsible for preparing assessments and impact reports, ensuring that the outcomes of green interventions are communicated effectively to stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal, Green Specialist, will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting the development and implementation of SME green and sustainability programs; identifying new opportunities for advancing the SME green agenda; leveraging partnerships with stakeholders to enhance SME access to finance; providing technical guidance and training to financial institutions and corporates; preparing and delivering assessments and impact reports; participating in banking projects to drive impactful outcomes; developing knowledge-sharing resources; tracking key performance indicators for green solutions; and coordinating with relevant teams within the EBRD to leverage additional resources and expertise.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Finance, or a related field, with a preference for those holding a Master's degree. Additionally, candidates should have relevant experience in consultancy or international financial institutions, focusing on ESG, green finance, or environmental management. A proven track record of building partnerships with stakeholders and providing technical guidance on green solutions is essential. Strong knowledge of sustainability regulations, green certifications, and project management skills are also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Sustainability, or Finance. A Master's degree in a related area is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in green finance and sustainability initiatives.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have substantial experience, preferably gained from a consultancy organization or international financial institution, with a focus on ESG, green finance, or environmental management. Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with financial institutions and corporates is crucial, as is the ability to provide technical guidance and training on implementing green solutions that enhance SMEs’ sustainability credentials.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the countries of operation would be considered an advantage, enhancing communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a fixed-term contract lasting for 2 years. The EBRD promotes a flexible working environment, expecting employees to work in the office 50% of the time.
