Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UNICEF involves providing emotional support and prevention assistance through a call center service in Bolivia. Volunteers will work in shifts, dedicating 8-10 hours per week, and will be responsible for offering emotional accompaniment to individuals of all ages, particularly those in vulnerable situations such as women facing violence, migrants, and the LGBTQI+ community. The role requires participation in comprehensive training on care protocols, case management, and call center operations, ensuring volunteers are well-prepared to handle sensitive situations. Volunteers will receive ongoing supervision and support from program supervisors and are encouraged to engage actively in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia. The position emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct and confidentiality, with strict guidelines in place to protect both volunteers and beneficiaries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support and prevention assistance through a call center service to the Bolivian community.
  • Work in shifts of 8-10 hours per week, adhering to schedules assigned by the direct supervisor.
  • Participate in comprehensive training on care protocols, case management, and call center operations.
  • Engage in ongoing supervision and support from program supervisors.
  • Actively participate in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia.
  • Complete mandatory self-guided training courses available on the virtual learning platform.
  • Report any emotional discomfort, technical limitations, or ethical/security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security incidents to the designated supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a workspace free from distractions to ensure effective communication and support.
  • Sign a confidentiality and ethical commitment declaration prior to assignment. 1
  • Adhere to all guidelines and protocols established by UNICEF Bolivia to ensure a safe and ethical contribution to the project.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide emotional support and handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Basic knowledge of mental health support and crisis intervention techniques is preferred.
  • Familiarity with call center operations and case management is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in using computers and virtual communication tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and needs of the community.

Educational Background:
A background in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications in mental health support or crisis intervention will be considered an asset. Volunteers should have a strong understanding of child rights and the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.

Experience:
Previous experience in providing emotional support, counseling, or working in a call center environment is highly desirable. Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly in crisis situations, will be beneficial. Volunteers should demonstrate a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values, with a focus on child protection and rights.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the service is provided to the Bolivian community. Proficiency in English or other languages is a plus, as it may enhance communication with diverse populations.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position with a flexible commitment of 8-10 hours per week. Volunteers will be required to complete mandatory training and adhere to ethical guidelines throughout their assignment. The role is remote, allowing volunteers to work from home, provided they have the necessary technology and a suitable workspace. UNICEF Bolivia will continuously monitor the assignment and activities of volunteers to ensure compliance with established protocols.
