Job Overview:
The International Accounting Junior Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the International Accounting Lead by managing the accounting and reporting processes for international country operations across 13 Country Offices. This position is responsible for providing advanced technical accounting support and ensuring that all country offices adhere to the month-end close process. The officer serves as a primary point of contact for accounting inquiries from country offices, facilitating communication and resolving issues related to accounting systems. Additionally, the role involves verifying the accuracy of deliverables submitted by country offices and reviewing key reconciliations to maintain financial integrity. The officer will also assist in training country office accountants on organizational policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with external audit requests, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting function within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the International Accounting Junior Officer include coordinating the month-end close process, serving as a point of contact for accounting-related issues, facilitating the resolution of accounting system integration issues, and submitting necessary journal entries in the HQ accounting system. The officer will collect monthly bank reconciliation files and accounting detail schedules from each country office, ensuring their completion. They will communicate monthly close status updates to the HQ IT department and confirm that all journal entry batches are posted and reconciliations are completed without variance. The officer will generate monthly Trial Balance reports, prepare and submit accounting journal entries and invoices, and conduct monthly reviews of bank account reconciliations. They will also review balance sheet accounts, assist in developing training documents, and monitor internal communication channels for country office accountants. Furthermore, the officer will maintain organized files for audit requests and collaborate with the International Accounting Lead to collect information for audits, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, with a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation or advanced accounting certificate being highly desirable. The position requires at least 1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in an international context. Strong oral and written communication skills in both Spanish and English are essential, along with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse international team, fostering a spirit of service and teamwork. Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software, particularly Workday or Sage 300, is required. The ability to train and communicate effectively with overseas staff is also necessary, along with a willingness to travel internationally as needed.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business. Additional qualifications such as a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation or advanced accounting certification are highly desirable and may enhance a candidate's prospects for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
