Job Overview:
The MineTech Hub Intern – Community and Ecosystem Engagement Assistant plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and outreach of the Timbuktoo initiatives in Zambia. This position is designed to support the Hub's mission of fostering collaboration among startups, universities, government institutions, corporates, investors, and service providers. The intern will assist in implementing the Hub's annual community engagement plan, organizing events, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. The role requires a proactive approach to community engagement, ecosystem mapping, and partnership development, ensuring that the Hub's impact is effectively communicated and amplified within Zambia's innovation landscape. The intern will also support the creation of online communities and maintain a database of participants, contributing to the overall sustainability and impact of the Timbuktoo initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the MineTech Hub Intern include: A. Community Engagement and Events:
  • Support the implementation of the Hub’s annual community engagement plan.
  • Assist in organizing various events such as bootcamps, demo days, fireside chats, and policy dialogues.
  • Coordinate participant communication, registration, and follow-ups to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of online communities on platforms like WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and social media.
  • Create and maintain a database of MineTech Hub event participants to track engagement and outreach. B. Ecosystem Mapping and Partnerships:
  • Conduct stakeholder mapping to identify key players in the ecosystem and maintain an updated database.
  • Assist in preparing partner briefs, concept notes, and presentations to facilitate collaboration.
  • Support communication with startups, corporates, and universities to foster collaborative activities and partnerships. C. Communication and Visibility:
  • Assist in content creation for social media, newsletters, and blog posts to enhance the Hub's visibility.
  • Support photography, videography, and digital documentation of events to capture and promote activities.
  • Track visibility metrics and maintain an event photo and media archive to assess the impact of communications.
  • Ensure that the Hub’s impact and activities are effectively communicated to amplify its presence and influence within Zambia’s innovation landscape and beyond.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the MineTech Hub Intern position should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a proactive approach to community engagement. Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation is essential. The candidate should demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and have a keen interest in innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development. Additionally, the candidate should be adaptable and willing to learn continuously, with a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the community.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally be pursuing or have completed a degree in fields related to social sciences, communications, business administration, or a related discipline. A background in innovation, entrepreneurship, or community development would be advantageous, as it aligns with the objectives of the Timbuktoo initiatives.

Experience:
While prior experience in community engagement or event organization is preferred, it is not mandatory. The position is suitable for individuals who are eager to learn and gain practical experience in a dynamic environment. Interns should be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and be able to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the community. Knowledge of local languages would be considered an asset, as it may enhance engagement with diverse stakeholders in Zambia.
