Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the implementation of UNHCR's Global Sport Strategy, 'More than a Game', which aims to leverage the power of sports to improve the lives of displaced individuals and host communities. This position involves coordinating multi-country initiatives that integrate sport into humanitarian assistance, thereby enhancing social inclusion, cohesion, and psychosocial well-being among affected populations. The Project Coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including UNHCR country operations, regional teams, and external partners, to ensure effective project execution and alignment with UNHCR's strategic objectives. The role requires a proactive approach to project management, including monitoring and reporting on project outcomes, facilitating communication among stakeholders, and identifying best practices to enhance program effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for a range of duties, including: acting as the primary liaison for UNHCR country operations regarding project implementation; supporting the coordination of project activities across participating countries; assisting in the development of technical guidance documents; monitoring project progress and reporting on outcomes; conducting field missions to assess project implementation; supporting donor relations and visibility efforts; and identifying additional opportunities to benefit refugees through the project. The role also involves synthesizing information for donor reporting and ensuring that project activities align with UNHCR's strategic goals.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as social science, international relations, or sport for development, along with a minimum of four years of relevant work experience. They should have proven experience in project management, monitoring, and reporting, as well as the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential, and familiarity with sport and play-based programming in humanitarian contexts is highly desirable. A detail-oriented approach and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, such as social science, international relations, or sport for development. Alternatively, equivalent years of experience in a related field may be considered. Candidates should have a strong academic foundation that supports their understanding of the complexities involved in humanitarian assistance and project management.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of four years of relevant work experience, particularly in project management and coordination within an international or multicultural environment. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly advantageous, as is familiarity with the specific challenges and opportunities associated with implementing sport-based initiatives in humanitarian settings. Proven experience in monitoring and reporting on project outcomes is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset, although it is not essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills that enable them to effectively engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as remote and is a full-time role with a contract duration of six months. The selected candidate will be classified as an Individual Contractor under UNHCR. The target start date for this position is November 10, 202
