Job Overview: The Project Coordinator for the Partnership for Decent Work in Fisheries will play a crucial role in implementing the objectives of the project, which aims to improve working and living conditions in the fisheries sector, one of the most hazardous and informal sectors globally. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the MARITRANS Unit and will be responsible for coordinating technical activities, drafting reports, and ensuring compliance with ILO standards and donor requirements. The role involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating project activities, including awareness-raising events and capacity-building initiatives. The Project Coordinator will also support resource mobilization efforts and foster collaboration with various stakeholders, including governments and social partners, to promote decent work in fisheries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the implementation of project objectives in line with ILO policies and guidelines, including drafting periodic progress and final reports.
Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating project activities, such as technical workshops and awareness-raising events.
Support the delivery of project activities by drafting technical briefs, concept notes, and communication materials.
Provide technical backstopping and administrative support as needed.
Participate in training seminars and workshops, adapting and disseminating ILO tools and guidelines.
Assist in budget preparation and related documentation.
Monitor project delivery to ensure outputs are achieved within budget and timeframe, documenting results and lessons learned.
Support resource mobilization efforts by identifying potential funding partners and preparing outreach materials.
Foster collaboration with ILO HQ units and field offices to share best practices. 1

Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Unit Head or Department Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in economics, industrial relations, social science, law, or a related field. They should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, including at least one year related to maritime labor standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to carry out assignments according to guidelines, conceptualize and conduct research, draft reports, and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with international labor standards, particularly the Work in Fishing Convention, 2007 (No. 188), and the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, is highly advantageous. Strong communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to work in a multicultural environment, are essential.
Educational Background: A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in a relevant field such as economics, industrial relations, social science, or law is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of labor standards and decent work principles, particularly in the maritime and fisheries sectors.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, with at least one year specifically related to maritime labor standards.
