This unit is tasked with leveraging sport as a tool for protection and development in situations of forced displacement. The intern will support the coordination of various projects, including the FIFA Legacy Fund and FIFA Foundation projects, and assist in the implementation of the UNHCR sport strategy. The role involves outreach and communication with sport partners, organizing meetings, and producing documentation such as minutes and briefing notes. The intern will also contribute to the Sport for Refugees Coalition and engage in media monitoring to provide updates on sports initiatives for refugees. The position requires a proactive approach to support knowledge sharing within the organization and the use of CRM tools like Salesforce for managing data related to sport partnerships. Overall, the intern will play a vital role in supporting the broader objectives of the PCS team and the UNHCR's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the coordination of the FIFA Legacy Fund and FIFA Foundation projects; assisting in the rollout and implementation of the UNHCR sport strategy; facilitating communication with existing and new sport partners; organizing meetings and producing minutes and briefing notes; supporting the Sport Coordination Team in its role as Co-convenor of the Sport for Refugees Coalition; conducting media monitoring and producing weekly updates on sports initiatives for refugees; updating internal communication sites; supporting knowledge sharing within the organization; managing data and information around sport partners using CRM tools; producing materials related to the sport for protection approach; and assisting the PCS team during meetings and events. The intern may also be required to undertake additional tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following essential qualifications: be a recent graduate or a current student in a graduate program from an accredited university; possess strong English language skills; and demonstrate a strong interest in humanitarian causes. Additional essential skills include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience in preparing briefs and presentations, strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, research and analysis capabilities, diplomacy, discretion, meticulous attention to detail, effective time management, and strong organizational abilities. Candidates should also have an interest in sport for development and peace, communication and advocacy, and issues related to child/youth development. Experience with photo/video editing tools, Adobe InDesign, Salesforce, or a willingness to learn new software is also desirable.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes a primary or master’s degree completed in the year immediately preceding the application or current enrollment in a graduate school program at an accredited institution recognized by UNESCO. This educational foundation is essential to ensure that candidates possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
Experience: The level of experience needed for this position is primarily that of a recent graduate or current student, indicating that formal work experience is not a strict requirement.
