Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, is a leading scientific research organization established to probe the fundamental structure of the universe. It employs physicists and engineers who utilize the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments to study the basic constituents of matter. CERN's mission is to advance knowledge in the field of particle physics and to provide insights into the fundamental laws of nature. The organization has a diverse workforce and operates in multiple countries, welcoming applications from all Member States and Associate Member States.

Job Overview:
The Gas Systems & Worksite Supervision Technician position at CERN's Beams Department, specifically within the Experimental Areas Group, Engineering and Configuration Management Section, is crucial for supporting and coordinating gas management activities across experimental areas. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the daily operation and maintenance of gas systems at CERN, which includes overseeing projects related to the consolidation and extension of the existing gas network. This role requires a strong focus on safety compliance and technical coordination, ensuring that all activities are performed according to applicable rules and requirements. The technician will also contribute to the design and review of gas systems, manage contractors, and execute smaller works from definition to installation, all while maintaining reliable operations for the world's largest particle accelerator complex.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Gas Systems & Worksite Supervision Technician include:
  • Supervising onsite works for projects related to the gas network, coordinating with civil engineering, transport, cooling, ventilation, and IT systems.
  • Ensuring safety compliance at worksites and adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Contributing to the design preparation and review of gas systems developed by contractors and project teams.
  • Technically coordinating and overseeing contractors performing operational works related to gas supply, including preparing and conducting acceptance tests and validating quality and quantities prior to payment.
  • Organizing and executing smaller works, from needs definition to onsite installation and handover to operation and maintenance teams.
  • Writing reports and technical notes that describe the scope, status, and progress of gas works.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in Electrotechnical Instrumentation or a related field. Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of gas distribution systems, storage and handling of cryogenic fluids, and technical coordination of contractors is essential. Additionally, records of training on gas handling safety risks are required, and initial experience in project follow-up would be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
