Job Overview: The National Volunteer – DRR & CSO Accountability Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the ACTIVE project, which focuses on fostering inclusive, resilient, and gender-equitable societies. This position involves close collaboration with VSO, strategic partners, and implementing partner teams to facilitate transformative changes in key thematic areas such as Humanitarian, Health, Climate, and Economic Growth, specifically targeting marginalized communities. The coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the project objectives are met and that the needs of the communities served are prioritized and addressed effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Volunteer – DRR & CSO Accountability Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Collaborating with VSO and partner organizations to implement the ACTIVE project effectively.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions aimed at building capacity within local communities.
Monitoring and evaluating project progress and outcomes, ensuring alignment with VSO's mission and goals.
Engaging with stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of the project's objectives and benefits.
Collecting and analyzing data to inform project decisions and improve implementation strategies.
Supporting the development of reports and documentation related to project activities and outcomes.
Advocating for the needs and rights of marginalized communities within the context of the project.
Building and maintaining sustainable relationships with local partners and community members to foster collaboration and support.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the National Volunteer – DRR & CSO Accountability Coordinator position should possess a range of qualifications, including:
Strong understanding of disaster risk reduction (DRR) and civil society organization (CSO) accountability principles.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community groups.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various audiences.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
A commitment to VSO's values and mission, particularly in promoting equality and inclusion.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate for this position should have a relevant educational background, which may include a degree in social sciences, international development, public policy, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in disaster risk reduction, community development, or project management would be advantageous.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in project coordination, particularly in the fields of disaster risk reduction, community development, or civil society engagement. Experience working in marginalized communities or in a volunteer capacity would be highly beneficial, as would familiarity with the local context in Nepal.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within VSO and with international partners. Proficiency in Nepali or other local languages would be considered an asset, as it would enhance communication with community members and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time volunteer role, and while the salary is not specified, volunteers will receive an allowance in local currency to cover reasonable living expenses. Accommodation will be basic, reflecting the organization's work in some of the poorest communities.
