Job Overview:
The National Volunteer – MEL and Communication for Development Coordinator will play a crucial role in the implementation of the ACTIVE project, which focuses on fostering inclusive, resilient, and gender-equitable societies. This position involves close collaboration with VSO, strategic partners, and implementing partner teams to manage the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) functions of the project. Key responsibilities include updating the MEL framework, facilitating MILE processes, managing scale and reach data, conducting field monitoring, and documenting lessons learned. The coordinator will also be responsible for developing success stories based on field monitoring and other learning materials, as well as facilitating the project's endline evaluation process. The role is expected to last until March 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension until March 31, 2027.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Update and maintain the MEL framework for the ACTIVE project to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate the MILE processes, ensuring that monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities are effectively implemented.
  • Manage and analyze scale and reach data to assess the impact of the project on marginalized communities.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits to gather data and insights on project implementation and outcomes.
  • Document lessons learned and best practices from project activities to inform future initiatives.
  • Develop project-related success stories that highlight the impact of the ACTIVE project on communities.
  • Facilitate the endline evaluation process, coordinating with evaluators and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive assessment of project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with VSO and partner teams to ensure effective communication and dissemination of project findings and insights.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning principles and practices.
  • Experience in project management, particularly in the context of development projects.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to VSO's mission and values, particularly in promoting equality and inclusion.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, development studies, or a related field is preferred. Additional qualifications in monitoring and evaluation or project management would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning within the development sector is required. Experience working with marginalized communities and understanding their needs is highly valued. Familiarity with gender equity and inclusive practices in development work is also important.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both spoken and written. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the project areas would be an asset, as it would facilitate better communication with community members and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time volunteer role, and while the salary is not specified, volunteers will receive an allowance in local currency to cover reasonable living expenses. Accommodation will be basic, reflecting the organization's work with some of the poorest communities in the world.
