Job Overview: The Interpretation Support Officer will play a crucial role in facilitating the integration of refugees into the labor market through effective communication and support services. This position involves close collaboration with national authorities and the project team to implement outreach and interpretation activities within accommodation facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing operational plans that address the interpretation needs of beneficiaries, particularly in relation to vocational training and traineeship processes. The role requires providing interpretation support during training sessions, assisting beneficiaries with relevant information, and ensuring effective communication between beneficiaries and service providers. The officer will also be tasked with conducting regular visits to accommodation sites to keep beneficiaries informed about project events and activities, thereby enhancing their engagement and participation in the integration process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the project team in outreach and interpretation activities within accommodation facilities.
Assist in planning and implementing operational plans for interpretation needs, focusing on outreach activities and vocational training.
Provide interpretation support for traineeship components and vocational training, including written translations of necessary documents.
Assist beneficiaries with relevant information and support as needed.
Collaborate with the Information Management Assistant to collect project-related data for interpretation services.
Facilitate communication between beneficiaries and service providers during traineeship components.
Conduct regular visits to accommodation sites to inform beneficiaries about upcoming project events.
Perform written translations as required.
Carry out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Languages or Social Sciences from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a high school degree or certificate with four years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Experience in a migration or refugee setting is considered an advantage, as is familiarity with multi-cultural environments. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerApps, is essential, along with knowledge of spreadsheet and database management systems.
Educational Background: A university degree in Languages or Social Sciences is required, with accredited institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates with a high school diploma or certificate must have additional relevant professional experience to qualify for the position.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have at least two years of relevant professional experience if they hold a university degree, or four years if they have a high school diploma. Experience working in migration or refugee settings is highly desirable, as is experience in multi-cultural environments. Familiarity with office software and web-based management systems is also important for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English and Greek (both written and oral) is mandatory. Additionally, fluency in Dari and Farsi (written and oral) is required. Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, but the primary focus for this role is on the specified languages.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Greece will be considered.
