Job Overview:
The position of Volunteer for Resource Mobilization at UNDP Tanzania involves supporting the Country Office in expanding its partnerships and resource mobilization efforts. The volunteer will play a crucial role in coordinating and documenting resource mobilization initiatives across various portfolios within the Country Office. This role is essential for ensuring that UNDP aligns its strategies with national development priorities and the SDGs. The volunteer will engage with a diverse range of partners, including bilateral donors, UN agencies, multilateral institutions, and the private sector, to strengthen financing for sustainable development. The position offers an opportunity to gain insights into UNDP’s strategic approach to resource mobilization and partnership development, contributing to effective coordination and donor engagement for sustainable development impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing resource mobilization efforts. These include:
  • Supporting the assessment and mapping of Country Office opportunities for resource mobilization, identifying current and potential partners, including new and emerging donors.
  • Analyzing partnership and funding trends in key national development and sectoral policies to inform engagement strategies.
  • Conducting research and preparing briefs on potential partners and donor opportunities for management consideration.
  • Supporting the design and updating of outreach and publicity materials geared towards partners and donors.
  • Tracking, documenting, and supporting coordination of ongoing resource mobilization initiatives across portfolios.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with partner requirements, including systematized reporting and visibility obligations.
  • Contributing to the analysis and synthesis of information to inform the Country Office strategy for partnering with UN agencies under the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and joint programming mechanisms.
  • Providing support in organizing external events and engagements to raise UNDP’s profile with development partners.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this volunteer position should possess strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to assess and map opportunities for resource mobilization effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for preparing briefs and outreach materials. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach to identifying potential partners and funding opportunities, as well as a keen understanding of national development policies and sectoral trends. Familiarity with the UN system and sustainable development principles will be advantageous. Additionally, the candidate should be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Educational Background:
Candidates should ideally have a background in international development, public policy, economics, or a related field. A degree in these areas is preferred, but relevant experience and demonstrated interest in resource mobilization and partnership development can also be considered.

Experience:
While prior experience in resource mobilization or partnership development is not mandatory, any relevant experience in research, project management, or working with international organizations will be beneficial. The volunteer should be willing to learn and adapt quickly to the dynamic environment of UNDP Tanzania.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNDP. Knowledge of Swahili or other local languages would be considered an asset, as it may enhance communication with local partners and stakeholders.
