Job Overview:
The position of Education for Health and Well-being Programme Officer is crucial for supporting the effective implementation of UNESCO's initiatives related to education sector responses to young people's health and well-being needs. The officer will work under the supervision of the Regional Advisor on Education for Health and Well-being and will be responsible for facilitating operational management of ongoing and new initiatives. This role involves providing technical assistance to national education authorities and regional partners, ensuring that educational environments are safe, inclusive, and promote health. The officer will also engage in knowledge-sharing and partnership building to enhance the impact of UNESCO's educational programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Contributing to the design and development of education projects that reinforce national capacities, preparing work plans, budgets, and output indicators.
  • Implementing project activities and reporting progress against performance indicators.
  • Providing logistical and administrative support for consultations, meetings, and events.
  • Conducting research and compiling data for project monitoring and reporting.
  • Assisting in building partnerships with stakeholders, including national authorities and NGOs.
  • Contributing to resource mobilization efforts by developing project proposals and concept notes.
  • Engaging in continuous learning to stay updated on trends in education and health.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or advanced university degree in fields such as Education, Social Sciences, or International Relations. They should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree or one year with a Master’s degree. Proven experience in gathering and analyzing information for reports, as well as in planning and organizing workshops, is essential. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is required, with an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) preferred in areas related to education development, health education, or social development. Candidates with advanced degrees will have an advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or one year for those with a Master’s degree. Experience in the field of education at national or international levels, particularly within the UN system or international organizations, is highly desirable. Familiarity with human rights, inclusive education, and gender equality will be beneficial.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Basic knowledge of an additional language from the Asia-Pacific region is desirable, and knowledge of other Southeast Asian languages will be an advantage.

Additional Notes:
The contract is a Non Staff-Service Contract with a minimum duration of one year, including an initial three-month probationary period. The position is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those with the right to live and work in Thailand may apply. The role is full-time and may involve international mobility.
