Job Overview:
The Administrative Student Programme at CERN offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students in Administration to gain practical experience in a prestigious scientific environment. This program allows students to engage in various administrative disciplines, including but not limited to translation, human resources, business administration, logistics, law, finance, accounting, and communication. The internship can last from 2 to 12 months, providing students with the chance to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios while contributing to CERN's mission. Duties and Responsibilities:
Participants in the Administrative Student Programme will be involved in a variety of tasks depending on their assigned department. Responsibilities may include assisting with administrative tasks, supporting project management, contributing to human resources activities, engaging in financial reporting, and participating in communication and public relations efforts. Students will also have the opportunity to work on specific projects that align with their academic background and interests, allowing them to gain hands-on experience and develop professional skills. Additionally, students are expected to collaborate with CERN staff and other interns, participate in meetings, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the Administrative Student Programme, applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State. They should have completed at least 18 months or 3 semesters of their undergraduate studies (Bachelor or Master’s) by the time of the next selection round in February 202
  • It is essential that candidates remain registered as full-time students during their internship. A good command of English or French is required, while students from STEM or engineering fields are not eligible for this program and are encouraged to apply for the CERN Technical Student programme instead.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in Administration or a related field. They should have completed a minimum of 18 months of study by the time of application, ensuring they have a solid foundation in administrative principles and practices. This educational background is crucial for students to effectively contribute to the various administrative functions at CERN.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong academic record and a commitment to their field of study. The program is designed for students who are seeking to gain practical experience and apply their theoretical knowledge in a professional setting. Therefore, any relevant internships or volunteer experiences in administrative roles will be considered an asset.

Languages:
A good knowledge of English or French is mandatory for applicants. Proficiency in either language will enable students to communicate effectively within the diverse and international environment at CERN. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not required.

Additional Notes:
The internship contract will last between 2 to 12 months, depending on the needs of the organization and the availability of the student. Participants will receive a monthly allowance of 3472 Swiss Francs, which is net of tax, along with a travel allowance. Additional allowances may be provided based on personal circumstances, such as marital status or dependents. CERN also offers comprehensive health insurance coverage, with contributions deducted from the monthly allowance. Interns will accrue 2.5 days of paid leave per month.
