Job Overview: The Regional Representative is responsible for maintaining and developing a robust network that creates impact through convening, facilitating, and harnessing diverse voices. This role is pivotal in advancing CALP's strategic aims and fulfilling commitments to members and the wider humanitarian community. The representative will lead policy engagement in the region, establish and strengthen strategic relationships, and convene members to identify key issues and foster shared approaches. Additionally, the representative will strategically lead CALP's work in the region, manage the regional program portfolio, and develop fundraising opportunities while managing donor relationships. The position requires a proactive approach to leadership and problem-solving, with a strong emphasis on networking and collaboration within the humanitarian sector.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Networking and Policy Engagement: Lead policy engagement in the region, establishing influence among CVA actors, including donors and international finance institutions. Strengthen strategic relationships and partnerships within the network, convening members to identify key issues and explore emerging trends. Facilitate working group development and co-create events while utilizing social media to promote CALP's work.
Programme Management: Strategically lead CALP's initiatives in the region, ensuring the development of a vibrant network and driving strategic opportunities for collective action.
Fundraising and Grant Management: Develop fundraising opportunities and manage donor relationships at the programmatic level, overseeing grant management with support from CALP's donor relations lead.
Organisational Development: Contribute to collective leadership as a senior manager, providing support for team members' personal development and ensuring cross-fertilization of ideas across CALP's work.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include at least five to seven years of senior management experience in strategy development, planning, delivery, and representation within an aid context. A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field is required, along with experience in networking and influencing senior actors in the humanitarian system. Candidates must possess a strong understanding of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) in a humanitarian context, particularly in the region, and have excellent communication and facilitation skills in English. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong project management, financial management, and compliance management skills, as well as sensitivity to cultural differences.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field. This educational background should be complemented by relevant professional experience that aligns with the responsibilities of the Regional Representative role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five to seven years of senior management experience, particularly in strategy development, planning, and representation within the humanitarian aid context. Candidates should have a proven track record of engaging with senior actors across the humanitarian system and managing complex projects effectively.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with proficiency in French and/or Portuguese considered desirable. Strong communication skills in both written and spoken formats are essential for effective engagement with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is classified as a fixed-term national contract with the potential for extension. The role is hosted by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and is classified at grade 10 on NRC’s national salary scale.
