Job Overview:
The position of National Focal Point for the SDG Stories Initiative involves engaging young individuals aged 7 to 16 in Kuwait with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through storytelling. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying seven schools in Kuwait to participate in the SDG Stories Phase V, conducting field visits to these schools, and organizing highlight events related to the initiative. The role requires establishing partnerships with civil society and the private sector to support the implementation of the SDG Stories Project. The National Focal Point will act as a liaison between ESCWA and the beneficiary schools, facilitating communication and collaboration to promote the SDGs and enhance educational experiences for students and teachers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Focal Point include acting as the primary contact between ESCWA and the selected beneficiary schools in Kuwait, advising on the adoption and implementation of SDG-related activities, and facilitating the flow of information between stakeholders. The incumbent will participate in field visits to schools, assist in planning and organizing events such as capacity-building sessions for teachers, and contribute to promoting intergenerational dialogue and global leadership among participants. Additionally, the National Focal Point will exchange expertise with the SDG Stories Team and foster cooperation and partnerships to enhance the initiative's impact.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a recognized first-level degree in education, sociology, arts, sciences, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of professional work experience with local and international schools, preferably in Kuwait, is required. Experience working on extracurricular projects related to education, science, and culture is desirable, as is relevant experience with the United Nations. Candidates must submit a copy of their educational degree, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a recognized first-level degree in a relevant field such as education, sociology, arts, or sciences. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of educational initiatives and the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as for effectively engaging with schools and stakeholders in Kuwait.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of professional work experience, particularly with local and international schools. This experience should ideally include involvement in educational projects and initiatives, especially those related to the SDGs. Familiarity with the educational landscape in Kuwait and experience working with diverse stakeholders in the education sector will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as it is a working language of ESCWA. Candidates should also have knowledge of English, which is desirable for effective communication within the United Nations framework. Fluency is defined as being 'fluent' in all four areas: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding, while knowledge is defined as being 'confident' in at least two of these areas.
