Job Overview: The position of Consecutive Interpreter is crucial for the Operational Support Section (OSS) of the IIIM. The contractor will provide expert consecutive interpretation services from Kurdish Kurmanji to English and vice versa during high-level meetings and sensitive discussions. The work can be conducted remotely, but may also involve travel to various locations in the Middle East or elsewhere as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Consecutive Interpreter include:
Providing consecutive interpretation during high-level meetings and sensitive investigative interviews, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Interpreting for vulnerable victims and survivors of serious crimes, requiring a compassionate and understanding approach.
Engaging with sensitive material and information that may be distressing, while maintaining professionalism.

Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Consecutive Interpreter position include:
A high school diploma is mandatory.
At least 50 days of work experience as an interpreter in English and Kurdish Kurmanji.
Certification in Interpretation in English/Kurdish Kurmanji is desirable but not mandatory.
A minimum of two years of professional experience in interpretation, specifically in Kurdish Kurmanji and English.
Experience in consecutive interpretation, particularly during witness interviews, is required.
Work experience with accountability mechanisms is also desirable, as is experience interpreting for victims and survivors of atrocity crimes.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes holding a high school diploma. Additional certifications in interpretation, particularly in English and Kurdish Kurmanji, are desirable but not strictly necessary. The emphasis is on practical experience and proficiency in the required languages rather than formal higher education qualifications.
Experience: Candidates must have at least two years of professional experience in interpretation, specifically in the languages required for this position (Kurdish Kurmanji and English).
