Job Overview:
The (Senior) Investment Officer for Infrastructure and Natural Resources (INR) will play a pivotal role in the Asia Pacific region, specifically based in Sydney, Australia. This position is integral to the INR team, which provides financing solutions to clients in sectors such as power, transport, telecoms, and municipal and environmental infrastructure. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of infrastructure projects, structuring, negotiating, and executing both debt and equity investments, and supervising portfolio investments. A significant focus will be on supporting clients in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands, particularly in finding decarbonization solutions and ramping up investments in renewable energy and urban infrastructure. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including colleagues in Washington, DC, to ensure effective business development and transaction execution.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The (Senior) Investment Officer will be a key member of the Asia Pacific infrastructure team, responsible for originating, executing, and supervising viable investment transactions across various capital structures, including equity, mezzanine, and senior debt. Key responsibilities include developing a strong pipeline of investment opportunities by anticipating market trends, building and maintaining relationships with clients and partners, leading discussions with internal stakeholders to facilitate project approvals, coordinating with various teams to develop strategies, ensuring quality control of legal documents, overseeing compliance areas, reviewing project assumptions and financial projections, and proactively managing a portfolio of investments. The officer will also identify opportunities for repeat business and drive these opportunities to financial close when appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an MBA or equivalent degree, along with 10-13 years of relevant professional experience in investment, corporate banking, project finance, infrastructure project development, or equity investing. A strong understanding of the infrastructure financing market, particularly in small economies like the Pacific Islands, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and financial structuring skills, sound business judgment, and excellent client relationship management abilities. Proven negotiation and structuring skills are critical, as is the ability to navigate complex projects and protect IFC's interests. Candidates should also have a solid appreciation of legal, technical, environmental, and social considerations in project finance, along with outstanding communication skills to convey complex issues effectively.

Educational Background:
An MBA or equivalent degree is required for this position. This educational background should be complemented by extensive knowledge and experience in investment and finance, particularly in the context of infrastructure projects.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10-13 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass investment, corporate banking, project finance, and infrastructure project development, with a strong emphasis on equity investing. Candidates with prior business development experience and a proven track record of deal origination in emerging or frontier markets will be preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered advantageous but is not required.
