Job Overview:
This position is designed for students pursuing a dual degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (DHBW) Mannheim, leading to an internationally recognized Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree. The program spans six semesters, combining academic studies with practical training at GIZ. Students will work in the IT department, specifically within the DIGITS (Digital Transformation and IT Solutions) sector, where they will deepen their knowledge in data management, data warehousing, and data analysis. Additionally, students will tackle questions related to artificial intelligence and will have the opportunity to participate in a three-month international assignment at one of GIZ's country offices, gaining firsthand experience in project work on-site.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As part of this dual study program, students will alternate between academic coursework and practical training every three months. Responsibilities include engaging in various IT projects, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, and collaborating with different departments within GIZ. Students will also be expected to develop skills in data management and analysis, participate in discussions about artificial intelligence applications, and contribute to the overall mission of GIZ in promoting sustainable development. The role will also involve preparing reports and presentations based on their findings and experiences during the program.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a general higher education entrance qualification (Allgemeine Hochschulreife) with a very good to good average or a very good subject-specific higher education entrance qualification. Alternatively, candidates may have a Fachhochschulreife with a Delta examination. A strong interest in Data Science and AI with practical relevance is essential, along with ideally some prior IT knowledge, such as through internships. Candidates should demonstrate excellent numerical understanding and analytical thinking, good performance in mathematics, curiosity about an international work environment, and the ability to work effectively in teams. Fluency in both German and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory, as well as perseverance and a focus on performance and results.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent qualifications that meet the entry requirements of the DHBW Mannheim. Candidates should have a strong foundation in mathematics and analytical skills, which are critical for success in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Experience:
While prior experience in IT is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates may have gained relevant experience through internships or practical projects related to data science or artificial intelligence. The emphasis is on a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a dynamic work environment.

Languages:
Fluent proficiency in both German and English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
