Job Posting Organization: SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to drinking water, food, shelter, and sanitation. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. The organization operates in 26 countries and employs a total of 3,200 people, including expatriates, national staff, permanent headquarters employees, and a few volunteers. SI's mission is to help individuals whose safety, health, and lives are threatened by covering their essential needs. The organization also aims to inform and raise awareness among the general public about the causes it fights for, necessitating the involvement of volunteers.
Job Overview: The position involves volunteering for SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL during the Rendez-Vous de l’Erdre festival in Nantes. Volunteers will have the opportunity to defend humanitarian causes and make a positive impact during the festival. The mission is to animate a stand called 'Bar à Eau,' where volunteers will distribute drinking water to festival-goers while raising awareness about the importance of access to clean drinking water for everyone around the world. This role is crucial in fostering a spirit of conviviality and solidarity while educating the public about the needs of the most vulnerable populations. Volunteers are encouraged to participate for a few hours, half a day, or several days, and ideally should have accommodation in Nantes or nearby.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Engage with festival attendees at the 'Bar à Eau' stand, distributing drinking water and providing information about the importance of access to clean water.
Raise awareness among the public regarding the humanitarian issues faced by vulnerable populations.
Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to create a welcoming and informative environment at the stand.
Participate in training and orientation sessions provided by the organization prior to the festival.
Be available for the duration of the festival, from August 29 to August 31, 2025, and commit to the agreed-upon hours of volunteering.
Provide feedback and share experiences with the organization post-event to help improve future volunteer initiatives.
Required Qualifications: All profiles are welcome, particularly those with an interest in the non-profit sector and humanitarian action. Volunteers should have a positive attitude, be willing to engage with the public, and possess good communication skills. A passion for humanitarian causes and a desire to make a difference are essential. Previous experience in volunteering or event management is a plus but not mandatory.
Educational Background: There are no specific educational requirements for this volunteer position. However, a background in social sciences, humanitarian studies, or event management may be beneficial. The organization values enthusiasm and a willingness to learn over formal qualifications.
Experience: No prior experience is required for this volunteer role. However, any experience in volunteering, community service, or event organization would be advantageous. The organization is looking for motivated individuals who are eager to contribute to humanitarian efforts and engage with the community.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as the role involves interacting with French-speaking festival-goers. Knowledge of English or other languages is a plus, as it may help in communicating with a diverse audience at the festival.
Additional Notes: This is a voluntary position with flexible hours, allowing volunteers to choose their availability from a few hours to several days. Volunteers will receive written volunteer agreements and insurance coverage during their time with the organization. Training and support will be provided by the delegate and the delegation officer both before and during the event. Volunteers are encouraged to express their motivations for joining and their availability in their application. Applications should include a CV and a cover letter, as those submitted without a cover letter will not be considered. The organization reserves the right to close recruitment before the application deadline.
